Pen Aviation has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first drone manufacturer and commercial operator to successfully execute a Tactical BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) mission inside a Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut, Perak.

This landmark operation involved two fully successful BVLOS flights using the PEN35VH ISR drone, operated directly from the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower. The mission represents a major advancement in Malaysia’s defense UAV capabilities and operational readiness.

Designed for high-performance tactical missions, the PEN35VH ISR delivers advanced operational flexibility and stealth performance. Key capabilities include Fixed-Wing VTOL for long-range efficiency with vertical take-off and landing, extended endurance of up to 3.5 hours (VE) and up to 8 hours (VH), low acoustic signature for discreet missions, rapid deployment without requiring a launchpad, and fully customizable ISR payload configurations. With a speed range of 90 km/h to 140 km/h and reduced detectability, the platform delivers a critical tactical advantage for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.

Radar testing conducted during the mission produced valuable performance data that will support future operational enhancements and mission optimization.

Beyond the technology, this achievement reflects the professionalism, precision, and seamless coordination of the entire Pen Aviation team. Special appreciation is also extended to the Royal Malaysian Navy LCS Project Team as well as LUNAS / Naval Group for their vital support and coordination throughout the testing phase.

This successful Tactical BVLOS mission reinforces Pen Aviation’s commitment to pushing technological boundaries and redefining the future of UAV operations in the defense and security sector.
